ONE OF A KIND

In response to the overwhelming demand for the festival in Crans-Montana, the Caprices Festival embarked on an ambitious expansion, introducing its first edition in Gstaad, Switzerland, in 2023. The pristine beauty of the Swiss Alps and the luxurious atmosphere of Gstaad offered an enchanting setting for festival-goers seeking a unique blend of music and natural splendor. In addition to Gstaad, the festival expanded its global footprint to the vibrant city of Marrakech in 2023. Moreover, the festival had earlier ventured into Zanzibar in 2021, offering an immersive 8-day holiday experience that seamlessly combined electronic music, diverse culinary delights, cultural exploration, and tropical bliss. This unique journey allowed attendees to delve into the enchanting landscapes and rich cultural tapestry of Zanzibar, establishing the festival as a global pioneer in curating unforgettable experiences across iconic destinations.

history

Established in 2003 by three devoted music enthusiasts against the stunning backdrop of the Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland, the Caprices Festival has undergone a remarkable transformation over the years. Initially launched as a live music festival, the event gained prominence by hosting legendary acts such as Bjork, Cypress Hill, NAS, and Radiohead, along with iconic figures like Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Iggy Pop, and Lou Reed. However, the festival always had a little part of electronic side to it with stages hosted by Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Carl Craig + many more.

In 2013, a spontaneous idea with Sonja Moonear, Guillaume Coutu Dumont, and Luciano led to an unforgettable moment—a sunrise afterparty up the ski slopes. This impromptu event paved the way for the creation of the Modernity stage, situated 2,200m up the Alps. The stage's immediate success, selling out even before the lineup announcement, allowed us to showcase emerging underground artists like Guy Gerber and Mathew Jonson. Ten years later, recognizing the festival's growing electronic music audience, we transitioned to focus entirely on the electronic music scene. Today, the Caprices Festival Switzerland spans two weekends across five stages, featuring renowned artists such as Black Coffee, Sven Väth, Ben Klock, and ANOTR, cementing its status as a premier electronic music event in the Swiss Alps.
